We are a husband and wife team who launched the Brew Barn out of a passion for homebrewing and wine-making. We have decades of brewing experience and are only too happy to share it - we will even help you to set up your first brew.

The Brew Barn is housed at Abbey Park Steading , Templehall just on the edge of the seaside village of Coldingham. Finn found the site 20 years ago while on a motorbike tour of Scotland, and we immediately fell in love with the area and set about moving our lives up here. At the time we were living in Sussex where Finn had a business as a blacksmith and we also ran Rotheriron Home Brew so the move took a little longer than anticipated, but we finally arrived around twelve years ago!

Although we hadn’t intended to set up another homebrewing business, it soon became apparent that no-one else was doing it around here, so we launched The Brew Barn. It now occupies one of the outbuildings on the site, and is a real Aladdin’s cave - full to the rafters with all sorts of brewing and wine making paraphernalia. We’re fond of saying ‘when it comes to brewing or winemaking, if we’ve not got it (or can’t get it) you probably don’t need it’ – and so far we’ve not been proved wrong!

We attract customers from far and wide – with many making a day of their visit by combining it with a trip to our wonderful beaches and countryside. Many existing customers have become true friends over the years, but we are always delighted to see a new face and introduce someone else to a world which has brought us so much pleasure over the years!
